Designing for Change

Creating a product or providing people with a new idea is often looked at as a passive one-way street. 'Design thinking' is used to create innovative solutions for problems in the world as discussed by Brown.

Exploiting current ideas and their constraints to create new solutions is how design thinking occurs, finding a balance between desirability and with functionality. To create a successful product one mustn't rely on designers, but rely on the people that the product was created for. Participation becomes the tool needed to solve the problem. Change forces people into rethinking existing solutions, and it provides people a means of exploring ideas that weren't present before.
