This informative speech by Vik Nithy explores the reasoning behind why people procrastinate in all aspects of their life.
While procrastination is something people often associate with homework at school, Nithy explains how it also exists in other parts of people's lives too. From planning the future to doing daily chores, procrastination is a real problem that prohibits individuals from doing things that they actually want to do. Nithy explains that procrastination comes about because of an actual internal conflict within our brains. The prefrontal cortex of the brain is the part that encourages individuals to work, while the limbic system encourages the opposite action.
Nithy states that it is during times of procrastination that we experience a form of anxiety towards something we may deem as a threat, even if it just happens to be a term papper or exam.
