From Innovative Tech-Savvy Youth to the Benefits of Youthful Thinking

— December 5, 2014 — Keynote Trends
These talks by students demonstrate that wisdom does not always come with age. Each of these speeches was delivered by a young person, from university attendees to speakers who have not yet reached their teens. The talks by students cover a wide variety of topics as well, including human rights, technology and the food industry.

Fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson of Rookie Magazine began writing on the Internet at the age of 12. Her speech on feminism critically looks at the contradictions girls face. While technically still a student, Logan LaPlante is home schooled. Focusing on wellness in the education system, the teenager explains his 'hackschooling' curriculum. Sarah Kay's presentation is more personal in nature as it describes her growth as a spoken word poet. She also hopes to inspire others.
